ERSTE BEGEHUNG IM BABCOCK FERTIGUNGSZENTRUM

Am Freitag fand der erste Ausflug ins Babcock Fertigungszentrum statt. Alle zusammen haben wir eine erste Inaugenscheinnahme des neuen Arbeitsplatzes vorgenommen, für alle eine aufregende Situation. Für viele war das zum ersten Mal überhaupt ein Besuch eines so großen Betriebes. Unser Arbeitsbereich liegt in Halle B11.

Nach einer ersten Besprechung gab Herr Blank uns eine Führung durch die anderen Hallen und über das Gelände. Wir bekamen auch eine gute Portion Betriebsgeschichte von Babcock und dadurch auch die Geschichte von Oberhausen, der Industrialisierung und des Strukturwandels zu hören. Wir haben nicht nur Einblick in die Bereiche Maschienenbau, Verfahrens- und Umwelttechnik und Anlagenbau bekommen, man konnte die Arbeit mit Metall förmlich riechen.

In unserer Gruppe ist auch Ali, ein Schweißtechniker aus Syrien. In seiner Heimat hat er viele Jahre lang Öl-Piplines und riesige Rohrleitungen gebaut. Seine Augen leuchteten bei der Begehung und seine Vorfreude war so sichtbar, dass sie auch ansteckend für all diejenigen war, die im Metallbau noch keine großen Erfahrungen gesammelt haben.

Der Montag - unser erster Arbeitstag im Werk - wird toll!

 

FIRST VISIT AT "BABCOCK FERTIGUNGSZENTRUM" (BABCOCK PRODUCTION CENTER)

Friday was the day of our first excursion to Babcock production centre. It was exiting for all of us to see the new working environment with our own eyes! For many of us it was the first visit to such a big factory. Our working area is located in the hall B11.

After the first talks Mr. Blank showed us also the other halls and guided us through the site of the production centre. We also heard quite a bit about the company history of Babcock and thereby also about the history of Oberhausen, from industrialization to structural change. We did not only get to see how the machine construction, processing and environmental techniques and building arrangements work, but we could really experience the smell of metal work.

In our group there is also a Syrian welder called Ali. Back at home he used to fix huge pipelines (of oil, for instance). His eyes blazed with excitement during the tour, and this enthusiasm rubbed off also to the those with little previous experience from the such work. 

Monday – our first day at Babcock – will be great!
